PLANNING AHEAD
Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am a planner. One former colleague liked to joke “Garry probably knows what he’s having for dinner a week from Tuesday.”
BABY TIGERS
Just like animals, plants are so cute when they are young. Adorable when young. Ferocious when mature. Just like some junipers I know.
WEED FABRIC
As I write this, we have just returned from an amazing adventure in Acadia National Park. It's always interesting when one goes on vacation or away from their home/garden for any length of time.
REGAINING THE EDGE
Seeing an object clearly and in focus is important. The ability to define edges and see crisp definition keeps us from rubbing our eyes or cleaning our glasses.
THE GARDEN CALENDAR
True confession: I am a collector. I’m not obsessed to the point of having to scour for rare finds but I have small collections of various objects.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT
The earth will make several trips around the sun before you might chill in the shade of a newly planted tree. When it comes to investments, it may take some time to reap the rewards.
SOLVING THE GARDEN DESIGN PUZZLE
In my experience, there are basically two different gardens (I refrain from using the words landscaping or landscape as these are most often perceived as plants and a whole lotta mulch).
THE REFLECTIVE GARDEN
When you are limited for space, you should use any method available help to create feelings of both intimacy and expanse.
TIME TO PLAN
When your toothpaste runs out, do you have a full tube waiting in your secret stash? Or do you write “toothpaste” high on your list of “to do” items for the day? I like to plan.
